Montessori Circle of Friends has been offering quality education since 1992. In 2010, Cheryl and Jim Keller purchased Montessori Circle of Friends to continue educating children with a balanced day of learning, play, and friendship. We take each child and build on their development level while working with them to develop respect between each other, cooperation, and listening skills. We encourage each child to learn numbers, shapes, letters, sounds, and, when ready, reading.
Montessori Circle of Friends is licensed through the Nebraska Dept. of Health and Human Services, the Norfolk Fire Division, the Health Dept., and the Nebraska Board of Education. The staff has CPR and First Aid training.
Montessori education is "developmental education" rather than information gathering. We offer a "prepared environment" that invites children to define their own real interests and rhythms in learning. Children engage in Maria Montessori's exercises to practice such things as learning colors, letters, numbers, or size and shape discrimination in fun and creative ways. Our teachers approach children one-on-one, in small groups, and in large groups to pass on interesting, new information and lessons to all children each day. The children develop at their own pace and learn how to build concentration and self-discipline within a warm social group, allowing them to become independent learners.
